1. How does it work?

The Stellar M22 ResurFX is a non-ablative fractional laser that uses heat energy from the laser to stimulate deeper layers of the skin. This allows it to produce new collagen and elastic fibers, so the skin becomes tighter, and firmer.

2. Who is not a candidate for this treatment?

  • Treatment should not be attempted on patients with the following conditions in the treatment area:

    • Active infections.

    • Dysplastic nevi.

    • Significant concurrent skin conditions or any inflammatory skin conditions.

    • Active cold sores, open lacerations, or abrasions.

    • Chronic or cutaneous viral, fungal or bacterial diseases.

    • Exposure to sun in the 4-6 weeks pre-op plan or artificial tanning in the past 2-3 weeks pre-op plan, remaining suntan, sunburn or artificially tanned skin

    • Tattoos

    • Permanent dermal implant

  • Treatment should not be attempted on patients with a history or concurrent condition of skin cancer or pre-cancerous lesions at the treatment areas.

3. What does the ResurFX treat?

  • Acne scars

4. How many sessions are needed for best results?:

  • Typically, 3 to 5 sessions are best

  • The Average session interval is every 4-5 weeks

5. What side effects could I experience after treatment?

After treatment, patients might experience mild discomfort (similar to sunburn.)

To be expected as part of the normal healing process:

  • Erythema

    • Post-treatment erythema is commonly observed, is transient, and may typically last from 1 to 5 days.. Higher levels of erythema might be observed on sensitive light skin

  • Edema

    • Transient and may typically last from 1 to 2 days. Higher levels of swelling might be observed on sensitive anatomical areas and on thin skin

  • “Bronzed” appearance

    • Within the first few days after treatment, some patients may develop a “bronzed” appearance due to the presence of melanin being sloughed off and to the coagulated zones in the phagocytosis process. Discrete dry flaking of the stippled light-colored microdots typically at 3-10 days that feels like fine sandpaper

  • Occasionally: Xerosis and pruritus Likelihood in the event of no/poor post-op soothing care

6. How should I take care of my skin post-treatment?

  • Keep the area clean by gently wiping with micellar water

  • Treat the area with a strong moisturizer

  • Avoid direct sunlight in the treatment area

  • Renew application of sunblock until next session

  • Avoid scrubbing the skin

  • Mineral makeup may be applied 2-3 days post-treatment
